Sorry I’m a day late with my review post guys! Busy week- lots of developments….I’m now officially half-way through Jaime Eason’s LiveFit Trainer!! Here’s how things are going:
Highlights of Week 6
I’m Mastering the Weights/Cardio Combo
As you know, Week 5 of the LiveFit program brought the introduction of cardio along with weight-training. I welcomed the addition of cardio to the program- I was jones-ing for my cardio induced endorphin “high” and missed being on familiar ground. Week 6 was the first week where I started to feel like I was getting a rhythm down with the incorporation of cardio into the mix. Plus, the “all-over” soreness I complained about in Week 5 finally went away, so I was able to get into more of a groove.
Do You Drop Set?
Have I mentioned that I love my legs? Like really love them? Yeah, my legs hold me DOWN when it comes to LiveFit and doing my first Leg Press “drop sets” proved it this week! A “drop set” is when you do just ONE set of a particular exercise until failure. The idea is to use the maximum amount of weight that your body can handle and really push through- even if it’s just 3 or 4 reps. Typically you then drop down in weight and continue to do more reps until your muscle is really fatigued. Jaime had us just do one giant drop set to failure, so I tried to use the heaviest weight I could & I managed to do 4 reps with 120lbs of weight!!! Yes, you read that right- 120lbs!! Super pumped- watch out Arnold (just kidding!). It was cool getting a glimpse of what my body could do when pushed to the limit, so yay drop sets!
Take THAT Scale!
And of course, with the introduction of a little moderate cardio in Week 6, my weight is back down to where I started! I was really surprised at how fast the numbers of the scale changed; just another reason to not obsess over poundage!
Lowlights of Week 6
Six-Days a Week Still Sucks
Having to pack my bag and workout on the weekends sucks. It just does. This past week I was actually working like crazy and had to work during the weekend, so it was super depressing to have to get up, go to the gym and then to the office on a Saturday (it felt like a Wednesday!) So it’s still been hard for me to adjust to the additional day.
How Do You “Superset” w/ Machines That Are Far Away?
Week 6 featured quite a few supersets. I’ve come to really like super-setting, because I feel like it really gets my heart rate up and it’s more cardiovascular than the rest of my weight-training routine. But what do you do when the two exercises in the super-set are on other ends of the gym floor? You run around the gym like a maniac, that’s what! Picture me, running from the Lying Leg curl machine to the Thigh Abductor machine just to make sure that I wasn’t wasting time between sets. A bit annoying, but necessary!
MY BIG NEWS!!!!!!!
So here’s the good news guys: I was just approached by Beachbody to review a new fitness program that hasn’t yet been released!!!! It’s all very hush-hush, but I’m super honored and excited to be asked. So that’s the good news. The bad news is that in order for me to truly test the product, I will have to postpone the second half of the LiveFit trainer for a little while. Notice I said “postpone” because I have every intention of finishing LiveFit- I made it this far and I’m SO close to Michelle Obama arms! So stay tuned for the second half of my LiveFit journey in a little bit! 😉 -CFC
